Outside the City.
Getting around is pretty easy.

Sculptor
On the way to Long Binh, one day, I got out and walked. I was looking for Thu Duc and a place where the 543rd Trans Co was in 1968. As I walked I saw this man working. There is a reinforcing rod frame with wire mesh and the man is applying a layer of cement to this tree he is making.

Sculptor
These are cement ponds with sculpted mountains and planters built in. Once again the lack of a common language was an obsticle however the more I looked the more I smiled and the more I smiled the more he smile.

Amusement Park
North of Saigon, on the way up Rt 1, is a modern amusement park. There are rides, a zoo and botanical park. This is a statue of the Trung Sisters, Trung Trac and Trung Nhi. In the year 40 the Trung sisters led a successful rebellion against the Chinese.

These are actresses awaiting the beginning of a show which is about to begin in, and around, the lake |

Amusement Park
This little girl was waiting for the show to start and was just so pretty that I had to take her picture |

Container Surplus
There is a world wide glut of shipping containers. This is caused by the containers being made cheaper, in some countries, than it cost to return them empty. Vietnam is not a society of people who waste things. Here they stack 8 containers, cut doors and windows and they have an office building. This one is on Rt 1 going North towards Long Binh. |

The Wedding
I was walking along Le Loi one day, when a man started talking to me. He is a teacher and he wanted to practice his English. We walked and talked for about three blocks and he invited me to his Neices wedding. It was half way between Long Binh and Vung Tau then 20 kilometers out in the middle of no where. The party was real nice. The food was great and the Bride beautiful in brilliant red. The man who invited me and I were the only ones who spoke English. It was a really great day. |
