Newport Docks on the Northease corner of Saigon.
We often were sent her to pick up loads. After I was put on a detail to deliver tanks out of the Saigon area it was Newport that we most often had our pick-ups. We were on a detail lead by LT Dye.
I hope I spelled his name right.

Map of Rt 1 and Newport docks. It is close I am not a cartographer.

(1) From the North end of the Newport Bridge looking into Newport.
(2) From the center of the Newport bridge looking into Newport.
(3) From the South end of the Newport bridge looking into Newport, right down the main dock. We used to go on the ships and hang out near the galley looking pathetic until the cook would feed us. The cooks in the merchant marine could really cook. We were on deck on Ho Chi Minh's birthday, May 19 1968, when mortars came in on this dock.
(4) From the South end of the Newport bridge looking across the river from Newport. I remember this as being vegetation and a few huts
(5) One of the trucks we left behind heading North towards Long Binh
(6) This is heading North off the North end of the Newport Bridge. Notice the red and white-stripped beam over the road. This indicates the maximum height. Instead of a PVC tube like at Mac Donald's or the bank, this is a steel I beam. This won't tap your camper, it will take the top off. One other thing. This is after you have crossed the bridge, if you are too high what do you do, back up across the bridge?
(7) Shortly after we come off the bridge there is a Toll Plaza.
