Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh
First I must mention that there is a date on the photos and that it is incorrect. I accidentally turned it on but it was not set.

During our stay in Hue Miss Alina and her brother took us to see the sights. First was the Mausoleum of Emperor Kiai Dinh (1885 - 1925). It was built between 1920 and 1931.
The compound is small in comparison to other tombs. It is, however, very elaborite. Steel, cement and Tile were brought from France. China and decorative glass was brought from China and Japan.

Just a note. Khai Dinh adopted Bao Dai who was the last Emporer of Vietnam.
Entering
Just through the main gate we go up a set of stairs. There are 127 stairs from the enterance to the Mausoleum.
Stele House
Between the enterance and the Mausoleum is the Stele house.

Statues of members of the court ready to serve for all time.
Mausoleum
At the top of the hill is the Mausoleum.

Top of the Stele House and one of the Obelisks. There is an Obelisk on each side of the Stele House

Front of the Mausoleum
Temple
The Mausoleum has 5 rooms. A guard room on each side and this Temple in the front room

Ceiling in the Temple. Through the far door is one of the guard rooms. The other guard room is behind us. The Ceiling mural is "Nine Dragons Hidden in Clouds".
Tomb
Behind the Temple is the Tomb. Sitting on the tomb is a bronze statue of Khai Dinh which was cast in France. Above him is a decoration which looks light and delicate. It is a canopy which, in reality, weighs over a ton and is made of reinforced concrete and decorated with ceramic and glass.

The building is reinforced concrete and the interior is covered with ceramic mosaics

Side of the Mausoleum

Beautiful, serene view from the Mausoleum down the hill towards the Perfume River.
