Ana Mandara in Dalat
During the 1920's and 30's Ana Mandara was built by the French who came to what was then French Indochine. Ana Mandara is a group of villas that were built on a hill on the Western side of Dalat. Since the war they sat empty. Now they are restored and being managed as a hotel. If you would like to visit you may go to AsiaRooms.com and make a reservation.

The last 4 photos are of a house that sits on top of the hill that is Ana Mandara. It is not part of the hotel or the restoration but it is a beautiful example of the period French Villa.

What is left of the original entrance to Ana Mandara

Automobiles on display at enterance to Ana Mandara

Automobiles on display at enterance to Ana Mandara. This is a Citroen. In 1967 and 1968 I saw these things everywhere. Aside from the Morris Minor Taxis this was the automobile of Saigon.

One of the houses that is open as hotel rooms. The next two photos are in this house.

A sixth house at Ana Mandara

Largest house near the top of the hill, looking up the hill.

House above from the rear, looking down the hill.

This house was turned into the Restaurant of Ana Mandara.

Entrance to the restaurant

Looking down at the swimming pool.

Small breezeway at the west end of the pool. On one side is a rest room. On the other is a small room whose purpose I do not know.

The pool is stone and the steps down into it are also a beautiful stone stairs.

Looking back across the pool towards the place where the first photo was taken from.

This is the gate to a house that sits on the top of the hill that is Ana Mandara. It is not part of the hotel or the restoration. I would like to know who lives there.

Through the gate above a little better look at the house.

The house on the hill.

Another look at the house on the hill.
